Film, TV and stage actress Celeste Holm died at her apartment in New York City over the weekend. She was 95.  She first made her mark on Broadway as the original Ado Annie in “Oklahoma!”, then starred in “Bloomer Girl”, “Affairs of the State”, later in her career, as the successor to Gertrude Lawrence in “The King and I” and Angela Lansbury in “Mame!”.

She is best known for three film roles, the fashion editor in “Gentlemen’s Agreement” (Oscar for Best Supporting Actress), the photographer who is ignored by Frank Sinatra in “High Society” and the playwright’s wife in “All About Eve”. She also appeared in numerous TV roles (Columbo, Spenser for Hire, Touched By An Angel, Archie Bunker’s Place, various mini-series and soap operas), and late in her career, she played Ted Danson’s mother in “Three Men and A Baby”.
