Tribrach Issue

Posted by hlb2 on Jul 16, 2012 10:05 am

Got caught in a downpour last week and cannot get the water out of my tribrach.  Any ideas?  I've pulled it apart, all but the scope, but I'm concerned about taking that piece apart.  I know nothing about these, anybody ever dry one of these out?  Tips/comments would be very helpful.

Thanks!

try to get one of those silica gel or dessicant packs from camera lens stores.place the tribach in a sealed plastic container together with the silica pack. hopefully it would pullout the moisture from the optical sight.
i used to do this to my camera lens after the lenses are exposed to rain during a survey work,.

Thanks, I was thinking of doing what some folks say to do w/electronics and put it in a bag of rice, but I will do this instead.  Thanks!

try placing it in a small aicondition room with the aircon on.
Have done this with TV cameras when they have gotten wet during out side broadcasting , and the lenses had fogged up

Re: Tribrach Issue - Rice worked for my cell phone

FWIW, I dropped my cellphone in the toilet once (don't ask.) surprise

I took the battery cover off and stuck the whole mess in a jar of (dry) rice for a couple of days and she worked just fine afterwards.
