stand alone cogo package

Posted by Keith 'surveysa' Jimenez on Apr 27, 2012 6:40 pm

Can any of you reccomend a stand alone survey software package with user frinedly cogo routine?  I have never been a fan of AutoCad and the dependent programs you have to run thru it.  I'm an old school guy and like to calculate my points and not be at the mercy of a mouse click for accuracy, or a 'Cadd jock' for that matter.  I would like some graphics capabilities but like to work with co-ordinates for the most part.

Please let me know of any and why or why not you like it.

Thanks.

KAJ,

There is a point based software that is free and gets good reviews from some people I know. I have not used it so I have no experience. If you want to try it here is a link.

Keith,
I've been using Terramodel software for years, starting when they were owned by Plus3. Now they are owned by Trimble. The survey package is about $1,400 but I believe I've gotten my money's worth for it over the years. Has a very good and easy CAD interface, not nearly as complicated as AutoCAD. My Dad (71 yrs old) has even learned how to use it.
