Construction Staking Requests

Posted by fredweaver on Nov 24, 2010 10:41 am

After a year of construction staking calcs I've seen a lot of misplaced or lost construction staking requests. How do you receive requests?
  1. Phone
  2. Fax
  3. Email
  4. Web Form
  5. Other
Taking a web programming class at the local community college encouraged me to take a look at a web based request system that stores project, request and crew reports in a database. And since I'm now one of the "unemployed" I've had time to work on it and I'd appreciate any suggestions or comments at www.fredweaver.biz/constake

Fred,

I am a solo surveyor, with the occasional helper, and everything comes through me, usually through phone calls or in person if I am on-site. I need to be more organized, and I will be working on that over the holidays. I would be interested to see what you come up with.

Thanks. I worked for a firm in the LA area, between 8 and 14 one-man crews, a dozen different projects/contractors. Things got lost and sometimes I never received the request.

Not just Construction Staking Requests...

Be it an initial job request or any change to scope of work that comes over the phone and no matter if I am in the Office or field I always ask for confirmation in writing by email.

Set up your Outlook emails SO ALL INCOMING go to UNREAD folder and also directed instead of to INBOX to purpose set up "client name" Folder by using a sort method provided in outlook

If when email comes in and I do not have time to action it on initially reading , then I simply recheck it as "UNREAD"

This also highlights number of unread emails in individual folders. So an instant jog that there is matter(s) to attend to.

If you program them for a date then add the date and time proposed to the  attached outlook calendar so you are then prompted .

The calender is a great way of prebooking or reminding to check a progress.
