The Trimble® VX™ Spatial Station is a superb choice for land surveyors who want to add 3D scanning capability to their offerings while also seriously upgrading their ability to capture data conventionally with Direct Reflex (DR) and robotic surveying. The VX is ideal for topographic work, and for combining conventional surveying with detailed scans of particular features—for example, while performing a topographic survey of a creek bed, the operator can switch to scanning mode to create precise models of relevant drainage structures. The Trimble VX incorporates Trimble VISION™ technology, which feeds a live, instrument-POV video stream to the Trimble VX’s controller. Operators can work in DR mode remotely and avoid difficult or dangerous (or non-shady) setups and still collect necessary data. Trimble VISION™ also lets operators click on the video image to gather all points needed, and shows gathered points so that repetition is avoided. Areas to be scanned can be outlined graphically, right on the touch-screen controller. The Trimble VX is a very effective robotic total station that tracks and records shots as efficiently as any instrument on the market.
